When you open the app, you’ll see the dashboard. You can resume your lesson from where you left off in the SingShala Academy section. Incomplete recordings will be lost.
Account & Profile
Download the SingShala app from PlayStore (for Android) or App Store (for iOS) and sign in with your Google account. Now, enter some basic details to set up your profile.
The dashboard gives you an overview of your profile – your average tune and timing scores, the view time for your covers, and your current level. You can also find challenges or browse the feed to discover other artists here.
Yes, a free account has ads.
With a free account, you can view limited lessons and audio exercises, get limited access to artist contests and only 3 detailed analysis feedback reports. A subscription account has unlimited access to all these features, plus, no ads!
On your dashboard, tap on your profile picture at the top right. Then tap on Settings (gear icon) in the top right corner. Select the ‘Delete Profile’ option. To delete your profile, hit ‘Yes, delete my profile’.

Yes. On your dashboard, tap on your profile picture at the top right. Then tap on Settings (gear icon0 in the top right corner. Then turn on the toggle switch beside the ‘Private Profile’ option.
Go to the profile of the user you want to report. Click on the three-dot icon in the top right corner. Select ‘Report User’ from the menu. Pick a pre-written reason or type in your reason for reporting the user and hit the ‘Report’ button.

Lessons are brief sessions explaining elements of music theory, vocal technique, ear training and other topics, based on your level.
Professional music teachers design and deliver lessons to help you learn concepts, theories, and techniques to improve your singing. Songs are covers performed by you or other members of the SingShala community.
SingShala uses advanced AI tech to measure your accuracy of pitch/sur (tune) and rhythm/taal (timing) when you record yourself singing. It averages both these scores to give you an Average Tune & Timing Score for the song.
Put tune and timing together, and you’ve made music. These are the two elements you need to work on improving as a singer. You can track your Average Tune & Timing Score to measure your progress.
A detailed analysis lets you know which parts of the song you need to improve on. You can review those parts or take a lesson on any skills that will help you sing those parts better.
You earn XP for practising, learning, and performing, basically anything that makes you a better singer. Fill up your XP bar to level up.
Singing On SingShala
Yes, you can. Once you’ve selected a cover and hit record, tap the options button that appears above the progress line. The next menu will show you the key of the song. Tap the + or – buttons to change the key. Tap the reset button to go back to the original key.
Yes, bring it on!
Participate in contests and daily challenges to get discovered, try making covers from different genres, and publish performances regularly.
Yes, you can retake the song till you’re satisfied with the score. But you will not get additional XP for retakes. XP points will be credited based on the score of the cover you publish.

Publishing/Sharing On SingShala
Tap the ‘Sing’ button on any track that you want to cover. Hit the ‘Record’ option when you’re ready to start. Once you’re done, your tune and timing scores will be displayed. Tap ‘Next.’ You may choose to retry the song; when you’re happy with the recording, tap ‘Upload.’ Then, type in a caption and hit ‘Publish.’
Due to copyright restrictions, you can’t share SingShala songs on any other social media.

Billing & Subscription
Yes.
Open Play Store. Tap Menu and select Subscriptions. Select SingShala. Tap Cancel Subscription and follow the instructions.
No, you won’t lose your XP. But you will lose access to the lessons, detailed analysis, and artist contests that are only available to PRO members. Also, the ads come back!
You can still enjoy PRO features till the end of the month, but your subscription won’t auto-renew.

Technical Questions & How-To
No. We suggest you use the mic on your earphones. You can also use your phone’s in-built microphone, but that might give you a less accurate voice analysis.
No, you can use your phone’s in-built speaker and mic, but we recommend headphones for better recording quality and more accurate analysis of your performance. Also, some features (like ‘guide vocals’ during a recording) require headphones.

Use the mic on your earphones instead of the in-built mic on your phone. Place the mic close to your mouth and sing directly into it. Avoid ambient noise – turn off fans, shut windows, feed your dog, so he won’t bark.
